Summer & Your Hair

We all love the summer fun. And we know the dangers of fun in the sun.
Do we know what the summer fun does to our hair?

We DO! And we have solutions! Sun. It weakens your hair. It changes the color of your hair. To help with damage of the sun- try using hair sun block. I love the PhytoPlage Sun Veil product. You can wear UV protective hats as well. Also, the sun will burn your scalp. If you have thin hair or have your hair parted & don't have a hat on- your scalp will burn. Game days are typically scalp sun burn days. Apply a little bit of sunscreen on the part of your hair.

Humidity. Humidity for those who have dry and/or damaged hair will do some funky things to the proteins of your hair. Causes frizz. Need some tips on treating frizz? Check out my last post.

Pools. If you are blonde, be prepared for some funky green color. Here's the kicker. It isn't the chlorine in the pool that causes blonde & damaged hair to change colors. It is the copper in the pools. You can apply a hair sunblock, such as PhytoPlage Sun Veil, hair oil, or conditioner before getting in the pool. As soon as you are done with the pool for the day, go wash your hair. I love using the PhytoPlage Shampoo & body wash. It gently removes the yuck & is ultra hydrating without weighing hair down. You can use a gentle detoxing shampoo followed by a hydrating shampoo. Follow up with a hydrating conditioner.

Beach. There is a lot of salt in the air when you go to the beach. Salt will tear your hair up, even if you do not get in the ocean- that beach life is gonna do a lil damage to your hair. If you are just gonna sit on the beach & not get in the ocean- use a hydrating hair serum, cream to help keep your hair hydrated & put on a protective hair covering. Make sure to wash with a hydrating shampoo & conditioner.
Hot Temps. When the temperature rises- we get sweaty. Letting sweat just hang out on your scalp for days will disrupt your natural ecosystem of your scalp & you'll start experiencing scalp issues. Use a gentle shampoo at the end of a hot sweaty day. I love the PhytoProgenium Shampoo. It is super gentle, made to be used daily, & has pre & pro-biotics to keep your scalp healthy & in balance.

I hope those quick summer tips help you keep your hair & scalp healthy!
